Then the old man drew a little golden snuff-box out of his pocket and gave it to the lad saying: "If you ever find yourself in a great danger, this box may help you, though it has never been used yet". Jack thanked his father and went on his way. At sunset he was very tired and very hungry as the food he had taken from home...
